Hello,

I’m a PhD candidate in the Department of Government at Harvard University. I’m interested political economy, social policy, and state-society relations in the Middle East and North Africa.

My dissertation explains how authoritarian regimes implement unpopular economic reforms without experiencing instability. Combining interviews, government budget data, and a novel survey experiment, I explore how governments in Egypt and Jordan have approached reforming subsidies on consumer commodities.

I have consulted with a range of international organizations in the MENA region, including USAID, the UN, and IGC. I was a 2019-2020 Fulbright Student Fellow in Jordan, where I researched the politics of Syrian refugee labor permits.
