Hello,

I’m a PhD candidate in the Department of Government at Harvard University. I’m interested political economy, social policy, development, and economic reform in the Middle East and North Africa.

My dissertation explains how authoritarian regimes implement politically destabilizing, unpopular economic reforms. Combining interviews, government budget data, and novel survey experiments, I explore how governments in Egypt and Jordan have approached reforming consumer subsidies. You can read more in my job market paper.

I have consulted with a range of international organizations in the MENA region, including USAID, the UN, and IGC. I was a 2019-2020 Fulbright Student Fellow in Jordan, where I researched the politics of Syrian refugee labor permits.
